- where do you buy your sugar?

our sugar is unrefined, organic, vegan, and comes from the most respectful and ethical agricultural project in the world: native (pronounced nat-chee-vay) green cane project in the sao paulo region of brazil, which was the world's first certified organic sugar cane plantation in 1997. we buy through kent foods, an importer based here in bristol. the project replaces destructive conventional farming practices with progressive land restoration methods. fertilizers and pesticides - balbo has set up its own experimental system called era (ecosystem revitalizing agriculture).

era improves crops while preserving biodiversity, soil health and natural resources. native is fair trade certified, and they plant trees, support sustainability. beyond these environmental qualities, this unrefined blonde sugar retains all its nutrients while being very neutral in taste. this aromatic discretion allows it to be used only as an enhancer for our chocolate.
